Graph Expo & Other Print Industry Trade Shows: Are They Worth It?

Our official opinion at Grow Sales, Inc. is, “Heck yeah!”

Over the years, printers, finishers and graphic arts suppliers have relayed many stories of important business connections being made at various trade shows. Value comes in many guises: sales, manufacturing know-how, industry connections, employee leads and new business ideas. Rather than giving you anecdotal evidence for the value of trade shows, here are some industry stats from The Center for Exhibition Industry Research in Chicago.

Percentage of trade show attendees that have not been called upon (face-to-face) by any company exhibiting at the show in the prior
twelve months.
Percentage of executive decision makers that made purchase decisions while attending a show.
Percentage of executive decision makers that found at least one new supplier at the last show they attended.
Percentage of executive decision makers that requested a sales representative visit their company after the show.
Percentage of executive decision makers that asked for a price quotation at the last show they attended.

On the worrisome side for exhibitors:

Percentage of attendees felt the booth worker didn’t understand their needs because he/she didn’t listen (not because the attendee didn’t try to express them).
